FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What do you do here?

I create handmade pieces of jewelry and metal works with my own two hands and metalsmithing techniques that have been around for centuries.

How do I find my ring size?

The best way to find your ring size is to go to a reputable jeweler and have them size you in person. If you live near the Twin Cities in Minnesota, and would like to meet with me in person, please contact me!

The next best way is to get a ring sizer. I carry small plastic sizers that I can mail to you. It comes with easy instructions and gives us a good place to start.

What is Mokume Gane?

To put it simply Mokume Gane, or mokume for short, is an ancient Japanese blacksmithing technique used to create wood-grain-like patterns with multiple layers of different metals. Layers of alternating colored metals are stacked and fused into what’s called a billet, and then forged and patterned into a workable and unique material. Each pattern is done by hand so no two pieces will ever look the same. A more in depth look at the process is coming soon, please check back for more information.

How do I order a custom piece?

Simply fill out the contact form to get started on a custom design. I do my best to make the process as easy and simple for you as possible.

Does a custom design cost extra?

Not necessarily. Depending on what you're looking for, prices may line up with other items I have in stock on this site. However, price quotes are estimates, prices change with the markets, availability, and complexity of design. Everything has to be taken into account in order for me to stay in business.
